Donji Prolozac is located in the south of Croatia in the Split-Dalmatia County (Central Dalmatia), leaning on the historic town of Imotski. Discovering all its treasures and beauties is a special and unforgettable life experience. Donji Proložac and its surroundings with many natural beauties, historical sites, unexplored and romantic locations is an ideal destination for lovers of geotourism, ecotourism, cultural, gastronomic, religious tourism or adventure. The shed was named after the rift-canyon of the Suvaja River, which broke it, that is, sank into the plain (M. Simundic, 1989). The symbol of Proložac is an old stone bridge in the center of town.
The geographical position and good transport connections will show all visitors the way to an ideal vacation spot. It takes only half an hour to drive to the most beautiful European sandy beaches on the Makarska Riviera. Split and Trogir are an hour and a half away, and a visit to Mostar or the shrine of Medjugorje in the neighboring Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be reached in an hour. Dubrovnik, the pearl of Croatian and world tourism, can be reached in about 2 hours by car.


Favorable Mediterranean climate, hot summers, mild winters and an altitude of 290 meters arouse the desire and imagination of this new vacation spot. Stone tombstones, forts, towers and early Christian churches are only a small part of the historical heritage.
The source of the river Vrljika, lakes Dva oka, Prološko blato, Krenica and the only island in the lake Prološko blato "Manastir".

Imotski lakes are a natural attraction - Red Lake is the deepest karst lake in Europe, and Blue Lake with its unique blue color is a favorite beach of local people and their guests,  with a castle from Ottoman times called Topana watching from above.

The fertile soil is suitable for viticulture, so wine lovers can try some of the best indigenous varieties, such as kujundžuša, debita, pinot, maraština, trnjak and plavac mali. And where there is wine there is also good food and entertainment. Do not miss out on a chance to taste Dalmatian prosciutto and cheese from mesina, homemade bread under the baking lid, Imotski cake and rafiole, freshly picked fruits and vegetables and perhaps the most important thing  -  meet local people and their customs.

Imotski Lakes are a natural attraction - the Red Lake is the deepest karst lake in Europe, and the Blue Lake, Imotski's favorite bathing resort, owes its name to its unique blue color. 

Prolozac Donji, located along the northwestern edge of Imotski Polje, from Prolosko Blato (lake) to the source of the Vrljika River. This area, rich in agricultural land and drinking water is one of the most habitat dwellings in the Dalmatian hinterland.

The oldest known names of settlement names are preserved in documents sent to Duke Stjepan Vukčić Kosača (1435-1466), lord of the area between Neretva and Cetina. Among others, King of Castile-Aragon, Alfons V. (1416-1458) confirms to him, in 1444, the estate named as "Prolosats vposutro - castello con lo contato".
